Fiber optic is an element that is increasingly more present in Data Centers. The need for faster speeds, as well as managing a larger amount of data make fiber optics a necessity. Ultimately, big data has provoked changes in network architecture.
This new technology is not exempt from challenges in its implementation and advances little by little to offer faster connections and more exact control of your activity in the data center.
Installation of fiber optic in the Data Center
We have to be careful when implementing fiber optic network infrastructures and consider which methods to choose, and where to meet the ISO and CENELEC standards. At the same time, we must envision the installation as a network capable of evolving and providing more speed in the future, a network that may have to support speeds of up to 400Gbps.
The preconnectorized solution supposes a simpler installation and its distribution makes it possible to support, in parallel, transmission speeds of 40Gbps, 100 Gbps and 400 Gbps.
Simplicity in the connections
What we want is to manage all that capacity in the simplest way such as, for example, achieving a 100 Gbps with only a 12 fiber MPO connector. Designs and evolutions that we will see in the future.
The homogenization of the network infrastructure with a single 12 fiber optics MPO connector and support for the maximum speed are realities that are closer each day.
Optimal port management
We are talking about smart wiring, about managing all that infrastructure in a precise way through monitoring. If we are searching for a standardized system we can mention AIM, which allows us to define the channel end to end. With this system we work through templates in the racks, the network electronics provide us information and we are able to access information about the activity of the structured wiring ports.
Ultra-high density
The network infrastructure of DPCs increasingly requires more density, because the equipment features more and more fiber ports. We can find, for example, up to 512 fiber ports in 14 Us.
The problem with this ultra-high density is management: we are going to lose maneuverability and cannot do tagging in an agile and simple way. We are talking about high density solutions of up to 72 LC Duplex per U.
The challenge is transforming those ultra-high density solutions into convertible solutions with the same densities and manageable with trays and ports.
