Customized Advantis NG for 24/7 management of control room engineers with the latest technology

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago needed to implement a new, state-of-the-art Operational Control Center (OCC) for the continuous management of its transmission and distribution network.
The OCC emerged with the objective of the Authority developing a strategic Action Plan aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the National Development Strategy 2026-2030 (Vision 2030). The last generation technology implemented in the new control center offers a glimpse into the future of water and wastewater management in Trinidad and Tobago and will allow the entity to remotely control operations across its extensive network of facilities.

Control Technologies Limited (CTL), GESAB’s business partner, was the local company chosen to carry out the entire project for the Water and Sewerage Authority, which opted for cutting-edge equipment and technology, including control consoles of GESAB in its value offer with the aim of collaborating jointly in this project and thus offering a highest level and quality final result.
Control Technologies Ltd. was pleased to work with GESAB for the delivery of this cutting-edge control center that serve to improve the quality of water and wastewater services to the citizens of Trinidad & Tobago.

Customized ergonomic technical furniture
Under this premise, the most appropriate technical furniture had to be selected for the team of engineers that works in the control room developing a 24/7 operation. Therefore, compliance with ergonomic standards for critical environments, the ability to offer professional connectivity and adaptability to the available space were essential for those responsible for the project. Taking all this into account, the Advantis NG control console was chosen, a technical piece of furniture that meets all the requirements.

Six curved consoles with sit & stand system were designed for one operator each and four curved consoles for two operators each. The ten consoles were personalized with the WASA logo on the sides and were arranged in a large curved shape for better viewing of the videowall, and this was replicated in both wings of the room, completing an oval design.
The sit & stand system allows operators to carry out their day in a healthier way by allowing them to change their posture during hard work hours. Being able to work both standing and sitting also keeps them more active and attentive to the alerts that arise and the responses they must make.

The GESAB team worked supporting CTL at all the time in the design of the control center, where the implementation of a curved videowall was estimated. The main challenge was to adapt to the oval design that was sought in the room and achieve an aesthetic, ergonomic and personalized design.
GESAB’s involvement from conceptual design though commissioning, its modern and high-quality products and its flexibility on commercial terms were all vital to the successful delivery of this project.
