Advantis NG control consoles for managing flight-test critical-situation simulators

The new simulation laboratory was inaugurated by the company president, who expressed satisfaction with the final result of the critical space.

Simulation, practice and instruction are essential requirements for knowing how to act in the most critical situations. For this reason, Airbus decided to implement a new critical environment where operators can simulate different combat flight scenarios involving different types of aircraft.

The aeronautics company already had an accessible “Future Air Capability Prototyping Lab” (FACPL) at its facilities to show interactions between “Red” and “Blue” forces, colors traditionally used to represent opposing sides, such as transmitting scenarios to different stations to observe how they react. As this facility didn’t fully meet Airbus’s needs, the company decided to undertake a project to implement a new laboratory that satisfied three key requirements: more advanced technology, alignment with the global corporate image and a big area for hosting visitors.

Thus, the new mission-critical environment now features Advantis New Generation control consoles where operators send and receive information. This technical furniture offers a more professional setting, facilitates cable organization at the workstation and allows for the relocation of equipment or the addition and removal of screens without disturbing the cabling, while also enabling customization with the company logo to align with its corporate image.

Finally, the room features a large Philips 1.2mm pixel pitch video wall, allowing both visitors and staff to view the simulated scenes as if they were unfolding in a real-world setting.

The final result is a great, exceptional environment that prioritizes technology, efficiency and the productivity of the tests done by laboratory staff. It also meets the need for a simulation environment aligned with the brand image, creating a cohesive link between this space and the rest of the facility.
