DeskWall and Advantis boost water supply management in the Andalusian city of Córdoba

The Córdoba Municipal Water Company (EMACSA) manages and controls the cycle of water use, distribution and treatment for the Andalusian city. To achieve more dynamic and efficient operations, as well as a secure and advanced environment, the entity decided to launch a public tender to implement a new control center.

Driving efficiency

After securing the project through a public tender process, our team analyzed the needs of the space and the operators, as well as the day-to-day operations they carry out.

We value GESAB’s specialization in critical work environments, as well as in hardware, software, furniture and technical equipment. The solution proposed and implemented is comprehensive and robust, yet simple to configure, manage, and operate.

Thus, it was decided to install two individual Advantis New Generation control consoles featuring a sit & stand system. This powerful and highly customizable technical furniture model, combined with the height-adjustable system, provides high-quality, ergonomic and health-conscious workstations, allowing users to vary their posture throughout the workday by working either standing up or sitting down.

Ergonomic workstation were complemented by DataFlex dual arms for 27-inch monitors and ergonomic chairs.

To boost operator efficiency and productivity, the DeskWall universal management platform was implemented at both operational positions. This advanced, cybersecurity-certified system enables operators to manage their tasks in a personalized and organized manner tailored to their needs thanks to features such as the ability to create personal workspaces, among other capabilities.

We have worked closely with the GESAB team on the project’s development, strictly adhering to deadlines and the budget and have comfortably surpassed the established objectives.

Advanced AV systems

In addition, a 1×2 video wall comprised by two 75-inch Philips monitors on a double-sided structure facing both control consoles was installed in the control room.

This large source display area, managed through the advanced DataWall platform, offers operators better control over assets by allowing them to use it as if it were a third monitor.

Next to the control room, a crisis room was set up featuring a six-person meeting table with a central power strip and ergonomic chairs. Furthermore, to boost efficiency and productivity within the room, the DeskWall system was implemented for use by operators and supervisors in this critical environment, thereby facilitating decision-making.

Additionally, a fourth DeskWall unit was installed in an office near the control room to maximize efficiency at that workstation.

New electrical systems

Finally, the electrical supply for the control center’s UPS and mains systems was separated by installing a mains power line from an existing main distribution board, equipped with a dedicated circuit breaker and super-immunized residual current device and a UPS power line from the existing UPS output distribution board, which was also fitted with a dedicated circuit breaker and super-immunized residual current device.

To maximize the security of the control center, an access control system for the critical environment was implemented using access cards, featuring an independent circuit and two linear lighting units.

Maximum satisfaction

After the implementation of advanced technology and ergonomic technical furniture in the new control center, operators have gained a safe and flexible workspace, resulting in an efficient and productive environment for the organization.

The added value provided by GESAB’s ongoing consultancy throughout the project, contributing their knowledge and experience in such specialized environments, has been a tremendous benefit to us. I would undoubtedly recommend GESAB to anyone needing to build a critical, high-intensity work environment.
