In the search for maximum ergonomics in the operational position, the need arises for a new control center with advanced technology of the highest quality.
Gran Canaria Transport, the entity that controls and records all the signals of the urban buses of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, needed a new management system that matched the efficiency and safety that the interchange control center required. To do this, they needed to find a next-generation equipment and source management platform that offered the ability to incorporate all signals into a single view.
In this way, the idea of presenting a public tender was born, from which the Etralux – Cobra – Construplan joint venture was selected, and which decided to have our products, given the high degree of adaptation to the requirements specified in the tender by the client.
Looking for space, ergonomics and safety
When constructing a new building for the implementation of the advanced control center, all the ergonomic and space needs for future expansions that the client requested in their requirements are taken into account. In the case of the ergonomics of the workstations, it was an essential aspect that our team had to take into account in the design of the technical furniture given the rotation of the operators’ shifts and their days.
The appropriate control console for this project was Advantis New Generation, given its versatility, flexibility and adaptability to the needs of the new Gran Canaria Transport control center. Its ability to house the wiring in an organized manner, the space available in the beam to accommodate small equipment, as well as its high quality finishes, left no doubt as to its suitability.
Maximum ergonomics with Advantis
In this way, 13 single-station consoles were designed with large upper boards where two large monitors could be ergonomically and healthily located. In addition, four cabinets from the Advantis New Generation range are located between the central operator stations, further expanding the available workspace. Maximum ergonomics in the operational position is achieved with the implementation of the sit & stand system, which allows you to carry out the day both sitting and standing.
Being a substantially large operational room, the need to have a large video wall with clear resolution from all positions was essential, in addition to having an advanced management system. Thus, and after consulting several options, the decision leaned towards LG’s very high resolution MicroLed technology of 0.9 pixels. This allows, regardless of the position in the room, the visualization of the data to be visible in high quality, avoiding possible errors, even from the crisis room.
The management of said video wall was placed in the hands of the advanced DataWall manager, which allows dynamic and decisive management of information, also providing high quality in the signal from the sources and boosting image quality.
DeskWall for efficient management
The centralization of the management of the different bus lines in DeskWall allows efficient operations to be achieved, avoiding information crossings or data loss. Being able to carry out the control in an ergonomic and organized way based on the needs of each operator thanks to the advanced functionalities of the system during the day, allows them to take care of their health.
The change from the old system to DeskWall was smooth for the room operators, since our team of experts designed an onboarding process in which they trained them in its use and continue to provide them with close support to resolve doubts.
