A strategic environment for critical decision-making
The Federal Electricity Commission (FEC), the federal utility responsible for the generation, transmission and marketing of electric power in Mexico, has embarked on an ambitious project to modernize its control center through its Puebla Transmission Zone. The goal is to optimize the monitoring of its SCADA systems and strengthen decision-making in critical situations.
To successfully achieve their goal, they entrusted our GESAB Mexico team as a strategic partner for the design and implementation of specialized technical furniture.
The team was faced with a large space in which three operating stations with a large number of monitors were to be set up for the daily work of both the control room operators and the supervisor. Adjacent to this space was a crisis room, separated by a transparent wall, where they could meet to conduct the most critical meetings.
Tailor-made solutions for a 24/7 environment
The new control center was equipped with Advantis NG control consoles specifically designed to operate in mission-critical environments given their power, ergonomic design and high quality and durability.
The ergonomics of the space and operator stations were carefully considered throughout the design of the furniture, allowing operators to work comfortably and efficiently during long shifts. Therefore, the control console layout was designed to facilitate visibility, communication between stations, and quick access to control systems. The end result is highly functional and efficient, while also meeting the highest quality standards.
A trapezoidal table with seating for seven people was designed for the crisis room, designed to facilitate collaboration and decision-making at key moments. All technical furniture was personalized with the green backlit CFE logo, reinforcing its visual identity and adding a distinctive touch to the environment.
Challenges overcome in implementation
Although the available physical space was ample, the project required specific electrical adjustments to ensure the proper functioning of the technical equipment. Despite this, our team was able to meet the client’s deadlines.
