Button panels, curved design and sit & stand system for the management of the Ternium production plant

One of the most relevant steel companies in the Americas, Ternium, needed to implement a new control center driven by the expansion of its production plant. With this new facility, the objective was to enable a critical environment aligned to the growth of the operation, with workstations capable of supporting specific technical requirements, ensuring connectivity and fitting into the available space without compromising day-to-day functionality.
Highly specialized operational positions
In search of highly specialized operating positions for their operators, those responsible for the project sought our company, since they knew our ability to design control centers for industrial environments. Our team knows that success depends on detailed engineering, and given that the client’s requirements were not based solely on “putting in furniture”, but rather on integrating technical requirements within the control console such as keypads, elevated elements, connection cabinets, etc., GESAB was going to be the ideal partner to carry out the project. In addition, a curved design had to be resolved given the space limitations in the plant.

Given this scenario, the proposal that our team made stood out for its consultative approach and for converting Ternium’s requirements into a viable, orderly solution ready to operate in a highly demanding environment like yours.
Consulting, engineering and customization
To provide a solution to all the expressed requirements, an Advantis New Generation control console designed with a high degree of customization was implemented. To reach the final design, the GESAB team accompanied the client and developed a consulting process with the aim of optimizing the design previously provided by the client, perfecting it and developing a proposal aligned with their processes and that could offer a highly ergonomic and efficient solution for 24/7 performance.
Our team also made sure to align Ternium’s operation with the proposed solution by carrying out a detailed inspection of its internal industrial processes.
Complex needs correctly executed
Given the high level of specificity of the technical furniture requested by Ternium, our team had to translate very specific needs into an optimized and efficient solution, balancing:
- Integration of technical components within the console
- Connectivity and order (without improvisations)
- Curved geometry and space restrictions
- A final result “ready to operate”, which will not only be aesthetic but highly efficient
To achieve the optimal result, the different GESAB teams worked closely, carrying out a detailed reading of what was really needed in the industrial environment.
Advisory support
The customized solution provided by GESAB has allowed Ternium to have the necessary technical requirements for the correct functioning of the control center.
The technical integration of the keypads resolved from the beginning in the Advantis NG control consoles will prevent the team from needing to make late adaptations to the furniture and the stations designed to support day-to-day life with order and connectivity offer a solid base for operation. In addition, the design aligned to real space through curvature drives the work of operators efficiently and dynamically.

The consultative support of our team from the beginning of the process has allowed us to solve the physical restrictions, contemplated by engineering, optimizing the client’s original design to build the best possible proposal for their processes.
Satisfactory and efficient final result
The final result is a client who is fully satisfied with the control center as all the requirements have been met. Despite establishing limited delivery times due to the complexity of the consoles, the result was a satisfactory delivery aligned with what was requested.
The close coordination between the GESAB Mexico and GESAB Spain teams was key to advancing the project, as well as continuous communication with Ternium, to ensure the pace of the project and the client’s operational confidence at all times.
